Family Camp!

In late July we all enjoyed attending a wonderful Family Camp in Bend, Oregon. This was our second year to attend, and we were VERY excited to spend the weekend with numerous friends and family in Christ. It was absolutely one of the best experiences this summer. I managed to branch out and try some new things this year, and had a great time! Be sure to leave a comment if you enjoy the pictures!

On the way to the Camp, we were texting with friends who were also on the way there, and decided we should send them a picture of us in the car. So, we took a sibling photo.......

A family picture.........

And an "extended" family picture. (Evan helped create this one.) I like to call it the many personalities of Evan and Elanee!

Once we arrived at the camp we enjoyed helping some friends setup their tent, and then had dinner, and went to the first evening meeting. The message was very good on the preeminence of Christ. After the meeting we went back to our hotel to check in to get some sleep for the 5k run that we were all excited for the next day!

Even thought we went to bed past midnight, we were up the next morning at 6:30 to get ready for the family 5k run.

Over the past few months Evan and I had enjoyed training and running together around our neighborhood.

I had never run a race before or done any running over 5 minutes in my life before this. But it was a great experience to train and encourage each other to go faster.

And it helped to have some great friends training along with us. That kind of boosted our determination.

After we got our numbers, and warmed up a bit, we all got in place for the start of the run.

And then the offical race began. Evan ran very well, and kept well ahead of me the entire time.

I enjoyed the run immensely, but wasn't prepared for the altitude adjustment in my body. We come from living at 300ft and the race was at arround 3000ft. As a result, it was pretty hard to breathe towards the end of the race, and I know my time was impacted as a result, but it was a great race none the less.

We even encouraged Dad and Mom to run/walk with us, even though they hadn't really trained.

Here's an overview of the racers.

Towards the end of the race. (Actually at this point I had already finished the race, but went back out to the road to run to the end with my friends.

Mom and Dad finished the race together, and smiling as well:)

After the race talking and hearing each other's stories.

My good freind Hannah C. and I.

After the race, we went back to our hotel to change before returning to the farm for the opening meeting of the day. I think there were about 750 people at the camp this year.

After the meeting was freetime. And it was great! I enjoyed spending time with my good friends     Eden S. and Hannah C. and we went down the zipline, and enjoyed talking toegether.

Apparently this is what happens when you ask your friends to watch your Mom's iPhone for you:)

Bethany S. and I waiting for the "fammed" zipline.

The ride was worth the wait. It was SO fun to be on the zipline, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

And for Bethany it was especially fun since she had never ridden the zipline before.

Towards the evening we enjoyed joining in to play carpetball. It is by far the most popular attraction of family camp, and it is very fun to play.

Then we enjoyed the evening meeting after dinner, which was equally as good as the morning meeting!

After a good night's sleep, we returned to the camp for another full day of food, fun, anf fellowship.

By far the best part of the day was the slip-n-slide.

Evan enjoyed doing pyramids with friends, and seeing how far he could go down the hill without falling over.

But I think we all got our share of suds in the face.

And then Evan and John H. attempted a wheelbarrow hold, and managed to make it all the way down.

Upon seeing the adventure the boys were attempting.....

I got an idea......

and with the encouagement of Danielle G. .......

I went down the hill standing up the entire way.....(this isn't me, of course, but I promise I did it just like Ben S. in this picture.) (Unfortunately no one got a picture of me.)

....But I couldn't help falling over at the very end.

After several hours of fun on the slip and slide, I enjoyed going down the creek on an innertube with friends, and then played lots of volleyball.

Mom and Dad enjoyed talking with people, and being encouraged in The Lord.

Then after dinner, we enjoyed the evening session. Mr. J and his team of talented helpers enjoyed announcing the winners of the 5k race.

And Dad....

...were both extremely surprised to win first place in their age catagories. They did such a good job!

After the announcements and evening meeting, we enjoyed talking and fellowshipping with friends and family in Christ.

And I guess you can see we got a bit of sunburn over the weekend, but it was SO worth it!

After another quick sleep, we came back for the first meeting of the day.

But we were all SO tired we decided to go get coffee's with some friends before helping serve lunch. We had a great time talking, and sharing stories....

And I guess some of us enjoyed the coffee a little too much!

Helping with lunch was great fun! I also enjoyed staying arround after lunch cleanup to help with dinner prep. (Which was extrememly fun. I didn't realize how much work goes into preparing dinner for 700 people.)

(I think I got these pictures a bit out of sequence, but anyhow, after dinner, we enjoyed the final meeting of the talent night.

This year it was amazing to hear several of our friends perform amazing songs, and arrangements. The H sisters sang beautifully as always.

And it was great to hear the J. family sing again in sweet harmony.

And then of course the S. family were simply wonderful as usual singing "Immortal Invisible."

And then Eden and Jordan S. simply brought the audience to their feet with an amazing performance of "The Holy City."

And I espeically enjoyed the B. families performance and song honoring the past, present, and future of homeschooling.

And the S. family did a wonderful job singing as well.

But I can't help but save my personal all time favorite for last. The Booher brothers are simply amazing!!!! I think I could listen to their music all day long!

And then for the final event of the camp, there was a family dance that went for several hours. But, I couldn't pass up playing volleyball and fooseball with friends, so I didn't end up dancing. I don't get to play fooseball very often, and especially not with excellent players, so this was an opportunity I didn't want to miss, and it was great fun!

And after about 6 hours of fooseball, volleyball, soccer, dutchblitz, ziplining, and other games, we ended the night with a group conversation and time of fellowship, before our tiredness finally got the better of us, and we decided to go to bed at 4 am.

But we were up in a few hours, to have breakfast before helping cleanup the camp for a few hours. It was fun to spend the final few hours of time fellowshipping, and cleaning up with freinds.

Then after lunch, we headed home after a blessed full weekend of fellowship, and encouragement.

God is SO good to give us great friends, and help us to see many, many things every day to be grateful for. His mercies are truly new every morning! Great is His faithfulness!

"This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. "(Lamentations 3:21-26 KJV)
