The Sunflower Blog Award:)

I was recently nominated by my friend Bethany Carson for the Sunflower Blog Award.  The Sunflower Award is a way for bloggers to learn more about each other by asking 10 questions.  Here are my answers to Bethany's questions: Enjoy:)

1.  If you could have an expenses-paid vacation to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I would want to go to Alaska on a fishing trip, because I've heard it's beautiful up there, and I've always wanted to go fishing for Salmon. But I would be happy to go anywhere in the world, as long as I was with friends and family:)

2.  What would you like to accomplish by the end of 2014?

By the end of 2014 I would like to have the satisfaction on knowing I have used every day well. I want to use every moment to make a difference for God's kingdom.

3.  If you had a million dollars, how would you use it?

I don't know:) I'd probably ask God for wisdom and ask my parents for advice. I've never really thought about that before:)

4.  What are your favorite foods?

Chocolate, Mango, Coffee, Blueberries, and pretty much any food that's healthy:)

5.  What are your favorite Bible verses?

Oh my this is a hard one. There are SO many good verses. I guess some of my favorites are Ps 55:22, Col3:1-4, Job 13:15, Eph 4, Ruth 1:16-18, Is 43, Is55, Phil 4:6-8, Rom 8, Prov3:5-6.....and I think I'll stop there:)

6.  What is the best advice on life you can give in up to 3 sentences?

Seek first God's kingdom and the things of life will fade in the light of eternity. Never, never, give up on the future, God is bigger than your biggest problem. Live each moment like it's your last, and make an impact on the people around you for God's glory.

7.  If you could live in any time period, which would you choose?
The present. God has put me where He wants me for this specific time in history. I'm grateful for the chance to share His love each day.

8.  What is your dream car and your dream home?

My dream car is a Chrysler 300 or a Mini Cooper, or a Ford F350 truck. My dream home would be any home in the country with enough acerage for a few animals, and space for friends to come and stay the night. But, once again, I'm grateful for what God has given me. We have two cars that are very nice and work very well, and we have a beautiful rental house that God has allowed us to live in for 17 years, and treat like our own. I thank God for His great mercy, and for giving us just what we need for our present happiness.

9.  What languages can you speak?

English:)

10.  Do you have a current occupation; if not, what would your dream job be?

I'm a musician, writer, homemaker, and entrepreneur. I sell on eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist, and I'm always looking for new ways to make an income:)

11. What cause(s) are you most opinionated about?

The cause of Christ, and furthering His kingdom. I have a passion for being a legacy maker, and living each day in light of eternity. I desire to help others see God's love and mercy on their behalf, and make my life count for God's kingdom.

12.  Is there any quality you think the Lord is growing in you right now (e.g., patience, love, trust)?

This is a challenging question. I think the thing I'm learning right now is to trust God no matter what happens. No matter what the past, present, and future look like from our perspective, He has everything in His control, and will work all things out for good. I've also been convicted about my heart attitude of love for God and other people as expressed through my actions. I've realized that I usually am focused on myself, and not the needs of other people. God has also been convicting me about my use of time, my focus, and my relationship with my parents. It seems like I always have something more to learn just when I think life is going well. God is SO good to protect me, and prune me with His loving hands. I'd rather be pruned today, and grow stronger in Christ, than grow in my own ways, and bring occasion for others to blaspheme the name of Christ.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off." Isaiah 55:8-13

  1. Thanks for answering Elanee! I really enjoyed reading this post. Great choices on your favorite foods: who can go wrong with chocolate or mangos?

Also I feel the same way when I'm asked for a favorite Bible verse; there are *so* many good ones! The Bible is filled with inspiration. Your advice on life is excellent and so is your taste in cars...the Ford 350 sounds so useful!

Also great ending verse; we may have many goals for our lives, but God's plans and thoughts are always the best, and He works everything out for our good.
